EASE, or Enhancement for Active Seniors, aims to improve the safety and comfort of seniors living in HDB flats. Over 130,000 households with elderly or vulnerable residents are expected to benefit from EASE.
The Government has set aside $260 million to subsidise the EASE programme and Singapore Citizens (SC) households will only have to pay a small portion of the cost. Even if all the improvement items are chosen, it will cost only $100 for an SC household in a 3-room and smaller flat. This is only 5 percent of the total estimated cost of $2,000.
